LASIK Eye Surgery

LASIK eye surgery offers patients a quick visual recovery and excellent proven results.

Why is LASIK Eye Surgery a Good Option?

LASIK eye surgery has been available for over 25 years, benefitting tens of millions of people world-wide. It offers remarkable precision and customisation, allowing the procedure to be tailored to the unique needs of each patient, ensuring a high success rate.

The surgery is quick to perform and also has a quick recovery time, with many patients experiencing massive visual improvement by the following day. The procedure is painless and provides long-lasting results, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses and contact lenses.

Secondly, LASIK surgery has a relatively quick recovery time compared to other laser eye surgery procedures, with many patients experiencing significantly improved vision within just a few days. The procedure itself is also relatively painless, with only minor discomfort reported by some patients during the healing process. Moreover, LASIK provides long-lasting results, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses in the long run.

LASIK

LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) surgery is a popular and highly effective refractive surgical procedure that aims to correct common vision problems such as shortsightedness (myopia), longsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. During the procedure, two precise and controlled lasers are used to reshape the cornea. The first uses air bubbles to gently separate a layer of tissue. This layer is then lifted and the second laser reshapes the cornea, correcting your vision. The layer of tissue is then replaced covering the treatment. This technique has a faster visual recovery. Reshaping the cornea changes the direction of light as it enters the eye, allowing it to focus on the retina, and therefore improving vision.

At Vision Care Clinic, we offer customised LASIK procedures. These are designed and calculated using specialist state-of-the-art diagnostic scanning equipment for a genuinely personalised correction.

LASIK eye surgery offers patients a quick visual recovery and excellent proven results.

Treatment is delivered using two separate lasers, with quick visual recovery and excellent proven results.

LASIK FAQ's

What is LASIK?

LASIK procedures correct vision by creating a very thin flap on the front of the cornea using a femtosecond laser. This is gently lifted, and a second laser is used to reshape the cornea beneath, before the flap is repositioned and naturally adheres to the eye.

Who is LASIK for?

LASIK laser eye surgery corrects short-sight, long-sight and astigmatism and is recommended if you:

  • Wear glasses or contact lenses for distance or near vision
  • 18 years or older, with a stable prescription
  • Want comfortable and quick results
How is LASIK performed?

LASIK laser eye surgery is performed in two steps and typically takes less than 30 minutes in 5 simple steps:

  1. Pain free: anaesthetic eye drops are used to completely numb the eye. There are no needles or injections involved, just eye drops.
  2. Flap creation: the femtosecond laser gently touches the front of the eye as it creates the flap using bubbles to separate the corneal tissue.
  3. Move to the excimer laser: the patient remains on the patient bed as it is aligned under the second laser.
  4. Vision correction: the excimer laser then reshapes the cornea, which corrects the vision.
  5. Repositioning the flap: Your surgeon precisely realigns the flap, back to it’s original position, where it naturally adheres into place, protecting the eye like a natural bandage.
